10/06/2008 - (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Chicago White Sox try to stave off playoff elimination this evening when they play Game 4 of the best-of-five American League Division Series against the Tampa Bay Rays at U.S. Cellular Field.
Chicago lived to play another day on Sunday, as DeWayne Wise hit a two-run double in a three-run fourth, helping the White Sox pick up a 5-3 win.
Tampa Bay still leads the series 2-1, and can advance to its first-ever American League Championship Series with a win tonight.
John Danks (1-0) gave up seven hits and three runs in 6 2/3 innings, with seven strikeouts and three walks, to pick up another big win for the White Sox. Danks was coming off pitching eight innings of shutout ball in the one- game playoff with the Twins on Tuesday, and he earned the win as Chicago edged Minnesota 1-0 for the AL Central title.
A.J. Pierzynski had two hits and an RBI for Chicago, which is trying to become the fifth team to rally back to win a division series after dropping the first two games.
Matt Garza (0-1) gave up five runs on seven hits in six innings, with four strikeouts and four walks, to take the loss for the Rays. B.J. Upton hit a two-run homer, and Akinori Iwamura had two hits and drove in the other run for the AL East champions.
Getting the call for the White Sox tonight will be righty Gavin Floyd, who is 17-8 with a 3.84 ERA. Floyd last pitched last Monday in makeup game against the Detroit Tigers. He picked up the win that night, surrendering two runs (one earned) and five hits in six innings.
Floyd, who will be making his first-ever postseason appearance, has never faced the Rays.
Tampa will counter with Andy Sonnanstine, who will also be making his playoff debut. Sonnanstine was 13-9 with a 4.38 ERA in 32 starts for the Rays this season.
Sonnanstine has faced the White Sox four times over the course of his young career, going 1-0 against them with a 2.96 ERA.
Tampa won six of its 10 regular season matchups with the White Sox this season.
Game 5 of this series, if necessary, will be played on Wednesday at Tropicana Field.

JUPITER, Fla. -- The Foorida Marlins are preparing for the likelihood that right-hander
Josh Johnson won't be ready when the season starts April 2.
Grapefruit League action starts Wednesday, but Johnson, penciled in as the No. 2 starter, hasn't even thrown off a mound at full speed since September. He's experienced some soreness in his right forearm.
MySportsbook.com have the Marlins listed with baseball betting lines at +800 to win the NL East this season .
''You guys know the math. If he's not on the hill then he becomes an opening day roster issue,'' manager Fredi Gonzalez said Saturday. ''We're borderline now.''
Johnson, who finished 12-7 with a 3.10 ERA in 2007, was supposed to throw on flat ground Saturday. That was canceled when he woke up with pain.
He played catch on Wednesday with no pain but felt discomfort in a throwing session on Thursday. He's expected to try again Sunday.
''Like we always said from the very beginning, we're going to take it easy on him,'' Gonzalez said. ''He didn't feel right, so we shut him down. We're going to take it back to step one and see where we're at.''
Among the candidates to take Johnson's spot in the rotation are left-hander Chris George and right-handers Yusmeiro Petit and Jose Garcia.
Right-hander Sergio Mitre, who missed most of last season with arm and shoulder problems, also is behind.
With Johnson's status doubtful, Gonzalez said right-hander Ricky Nolasco will stay in the rotation and no longer will be considered a candidate for closer.
